Warriors, it’s time to start voting for your new Associated Student, Inc. (ASI) Board of Directors. ASI elections are here and it is time to go and make your voice be heard.
ASI Vice President, Carlene Dyer (senior, Psychology), emphasizes the importance of the students’ votes.
“It is important for students to vote because this is how their next student leaders become appointed to sit in the ASI Board, which represent the student voice,” Dyer added.
There are a handful of positions that students will be voting for.
Dyer says that, “The positions that will be voted for during elections are the following ASI Board of Director seats:
a. Educational, Kinesiology & Social Work
b. Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences
c. Student Organizations
d. Residential Life
e. Environment
f. Diversity
g. At Large
h. Business
i. Science.”
Members of ASI and University Student Union (USU) are going to be seen on the ballot when you are voting.
“They are some students that are currently part of ASI/USU running for the Board of Director positions, hoping to be incumbent and students who are taking on a bigger role on the board,” Dyer said.
Dyer wants students to get out and get their voices heard.
“We encourage all Stan State students to come out and vote and respect as well as listen to the candidates that are running for these Board of Directors positions,” she expressed.
The following student wanted to remain anonymous, due to the fact that she is running for a position and did not want any bias towards her.
“It is important to let students know that their voice matter,” the student said. “Students will be voting for their next semester representatives.”
Elections will be held on Apr. 26-27 at the Warrior Activity Center from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m Turlock’s campus and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Stockton Center.
