Urban Outlaw is a hidden gem located by the Costco in Turlock. This store is owned and operated by Turlock native, Amy Delgado-Gentry. Founded on April 1st, 2017 Urban Outlaw has brought the country style back to Turlock.
The family run store features bohemian and country styled apparel and is run with help from Delgado-Gentry’s daughter.
Owning your own business
Delgado-Gentry explained her journey in owning and running businesses.
“First I started off with prior experience in a consignment store, that I opened up in around 2008. At that time the economy was really bad, and I didn’t have a lot of money to start my own business, but I always knew I wanted to have my own business, said Delgado-Gentry. “I knew that that would be the easiest route to get into this field.”
This idea and motivation allowed Amy to take the next step and open a full retail store with inventory, on a larger scale.
The Urban Outlaw Style
The store primarily brings in classic pieces with country influences. Aside from the clothes, the store has a wide variety of jewelry, shoes, and other accessories to pull an outfit together.
Delgado-Gentry described the apparel’s styles.
“This store is for the free-spirited individual with a sense of their own style, someone who is a little bit country in their roots and trendy,” stated Delgado-Gentry. “I can’t get away from the leather, suede, the fringe. I just love texture and natural fiber, the turquoise, the chunky jewelry and cowgirl boots never go out of style.”
Expansion
Urban Outlaw brought in their first designer brand, Free People, at the end of September.
Delgado-Gentry expressed the pride and excitement to be having them as her first designer brand in the store.
“I believe there is a need for designer brands,” she said “However, many brands will require you carry other brands or have a specific amount of years in business before they can carry designer brands.”
Reward Program
Urban Outlaw currently uses the Remind App where shoppers can sign up and receive exclusive deals on.
“I’ll ask my customer if they want to be a member, I’ll give them exclusive deals that will come via text.” Delgado-Gentry states.
Along with the app Urban Outlaw offers a 20% off discount to Stan State students if they show their student IDs at the time of their purchase.
Online Shopping
Along with the storefront, Urban Outlaw has an online boutique that allows anyone to shop from the convenience of their own home. Urban Outlaw is open 6 days a week Monday- Saturday.
