The Associated Students Incorporated (ASI) will be hosting Stan Fest on Sept. 23, a back-to-school concert for the students at California State University, Stanislaus, (Stan State), and the public.
The concert has been known to host a variety of artists that range in genres. This year is particularly nostalgic for the students who grew up in the early 2000s or are Hip-Hop fans.
“During last semester’s elections, we actually created a poll on our election form where we asked students the music genres they prefer to see on campus,” Jocelyn Castellanos (senior, Communication Studies), ASI Program Assistant, said.
“An overwhelming majority chose Hip Hop so we then took that information and as an organization we brainstormed ideas for who we could bring.”
The artists playing this year are Mims, The Ying Yang Twins, and headlining the concert will be T-pain. All three artists debuted in the early 2000s, topping charts with their first singles.
Mims is best known for their 2006 hit single “This is why I am Hot”.
The Ying Yang Twins’ “Whistle While You Twurk” debuted on the Billboard Top 100 in 2000.
“I’m Sprung” gained a spot on Billboard’s Top 10 in 2005 by Grammy-award winner T-Pain.
Doors open at 6 pm. Pre-sale tickets are $5.00 for Stan State students with a school I.D. and $25 for the public. It will be $35.00 on the day of the event at the Amphitheater.
All ages are welcome. Tickets are limited.
