The new Stan’s Choice food stand, located right beside Demergasso-Bava Hall, opened on the first week of the spring semester. Students immediately waited in line to order from the stand, eagerly wanting to try out one of the sandwiches on the menu for the very first time.
One of the students who placed an order was Anthony Ramirez (senior, History) who thought that the food stand is good because of the affordable prices it offered. “I like how you can order a sandwich and a soup for under $10,” Ramirez explained.
Ramirez also expressed his happiness towards the location of the stand. “I think it’s pretty good, especially if you are on the rush,” Ramirez said.
“I like [that] it’s conveniently located outside [of] DBH because you don’t have to go the long distance to the cafeteria or across the street to the grocery store or anything like that,” Ramirez continued.
“So far, it’s pretty good. I like it. It’s my first time trying it actually. I think it’s different. It satisfies the college hunger…,” Ramirez added.
Jesus Gomez-Gonzalez (sophomore, Criminal Justice) thought that the restaurant was pretty good and had great customer service. He thought “The Classic,” which is the Texas toast with grilled cheese, is really good.
Some students heard about the restaurant from a friend, and others through the university’s Instagram page, like Jonathan Vallejo (freshman, Computer Science) and Ritchie Morales (junior, Kinesiology).
Jonathan Vallejo (freshman, Computer Science) visited the Stan’s Choice food stand because his roommate recommended it to him. “[I] like trying something new. [I like] seeing what other options they have other than in main dining and also the location, which can be convenient for some people.”
Ritchie Morales (junior, Kinesiology) is a first-time customer of the food stand and was excited to try out some of the menu items. “I heard about it on Instagram when school first started,” Morales said. “I see it because I have class right here and I work at the library in the new library building. I see it all the time. I have never been here before… it always smells good every time I walk around it,” Morales explained.
After trying the tater-tots for the first time, Morales said that he enjoyed the food and that he looked forward to trying out food stand again. “I think they are really amazing. They are fresh out of the fryer. You can tell…they smell so good. It’s amazing and I love them,” Morales joyously said.
Stan’s Choice Food Joint is located to the left of DBH’s main entrance. The food stand is open from 7:30 am to 7 pm Monday through Thursday. They are also open on Friday from 11 am to 5 pm.
