Love Your Melon is an apparel brand dedicated to giving a hat to every child battling cancer and supporting the fight against pediatric cancer. Love Your Melon has campus crews at colleges across the country.

The Stan State Love Your Melon Campus crew is spreading the word by selling products to raise money and personally giving hats to children in treatment in our community.

On November 14 there will be a “Be The Match Drive” in the quad with the Love Your Melon Crew and Theta Chi fraternity where you can learn how to be a match for someone fighting cancer.

50 percent of net profit from sales from Love Your Melon is given to the organization’s non profit partners in the fight against pediatric cancer.

Rachel Horvath, the Public Relations Manager for the Love Your Melon on campus has been involved in the club for a year now and finds it so rewarding. She said, “The part that impacts me the most is that your daily materialistic struggles don’t mean much because there are kids who are struggling with cancer yet they remain to be so joyful.”

The club has also thrown a party for  one of the hospitalized children, Sofia, a  which the members of the club have found to be so impactful seeing all of the joy they can all bring together.

Love Your Melon is a really hands on organization where members of the club write hand made letters for the children as well as visiting them in the hospital.

Mia Patino (junior, Child Development) said, “Love Your Melon has really humbled me. It has allowed me to see the lives of other people and the chances they don’t get as well as the opportunities we have that we take for granted.”

Alex Rowell (senior, Kinesiology/Exercise Science) said, “It has opened my eyes to all of the amazing things other organizations and people have done around the world not just to help kids but also with families in general. I also think that it is a great opportunity to have people come together and support these amazing causes. It’s just a really fun and loving family and it makes the campus brighter.”
