If you are still looking for Halloween plans and have a bigger budget, Disneyland is the place for you. The Disney Halloween Celebration began back on September 7 of this year and will run until October 31.
While it tends to be more expensive than other options, Disneyland for Halloween is a must on the list of things to be experienced. The decorations start before one even enters the park. On the Disneyland entrance, there are pumpkins that are shaped to resemble the classic Disney characters. These characters include Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and Pluto.
Across the way is California Adventure which houses a large display of a popular Disney villain. This display spans across the center of the entrance to this second park and even has sound with it. Watch out, or Oogie Boogie might scare you.
Once inside the park, there are pumpkins galore. Everywhere you turn, you will see pumpkins. While pumpkins are great and say “Halloween,” they are not the most attention-grabbing elements of the decorations.
In Disneyland, to see the best decorations, head over to New Orleans Square. This area of the park is home to the Haunted Mansion. This ride is scary year-round but undergoes a change in appearance for the holidays. This is the only area, in either park, that will have the Halloween decorations up for more than one holiday.
The decorations in this ride shift from the classic Haunted Mansion that everyone knows and loves to follow the story of Disney’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. This film showcases two holidays, so the ride will remain decorated for those two holidays.
Back in California Adventure is a Halloween take on Cars Land. The street stays the same, but the spooks come out of hiding. Decorations change, and things become eerier.
In addition to the Halloween decorations, there is also recognition of Día de Los Muertos in both parks. In Disneyland, the celebration of this holiday can be found in Frontierland near Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
While the decorations are beautiful and visually stunning, the most fun thing about Halloween in Disneyland has to be the things that one can do there. If plans are made far enough in advance, then one can buy tickets for Mickey’s Halloween Party. This event’s tickets are a separate cost from the general park admission. However, it is totally worth the cost. During this party, people have the chance to experience smaller crowds, trick-or-treating, and special Halloween themed events.
There is a Halloween parade full of bright lights and villains. It is a spooky show full of fun music and eerie lights.
Once the parade is finished, the villains come out to roam around Main Street. Beware of their haunting stature and sneaky trickery. Some of the villains who come out to play during this time are considered limited edition. This means that they are only out for character meetings during the Mickey’s Halloween Parties. Some of these characters include Jafar, Maleficent, Gaston, and even Governor Ratcliffe. In addition to these rare villains, there are other villains who can be found year-round but are still fun to get pictures with. These characters include Dr. Facilier, The Evil Queen, Cruella de Vil, and Captain Hook.
To wrap up the evening, there was a chilling spin put on the classic firework show that everyone loves and waits for. Rather than the usual show with Tinkerbell in the sky, this show will leave you with ghostly chills. It has Halloween music at the start and finish of the show while the whole middle section of the show is also villain centered.
The last day to experience this spine-chilling celebration is Halloween day. If you attend the park even one day later, you will have missed out.
While there are 62 days until Christmas, the Haunted Mansion says otherwise. With a countdown clock reading 0 days until Christmas on the front of the mansion, anyone will quickly realize how fast approaching this upcoming holiday actually is. In the park, Christmas merchandise and decorations had already been released to allow people to have more time to get ready for the holiday.
