On March 9, California State University, Stanislaus (Stan State) held their annual Career Fair in the Event Center room from 10 a.m to 2 p.m.
Many companies signed up to be a part of the event to give out information, internship suggestions and an opportunity of hire.
Many attended this beneficial event, it was a great opportunity to see jobs that are out there, and give you ideas of what to work on to better your skills.
“Make sure you’re presentable, it’s not always about qualifications, it’s about your attitude you put out,” Michael Griffiths, DOT Foods Operations Management Trainee and Stan State Alumni said.
There were similar qualities the companies interviewed had in common: attitude, potential, desire to learn, and presentation.
To name some of the companies that attended were: Yosemite Farm Credit, DOT Foods, Inc,, Vivint, Target, Ag Link, Inc., AT&T INC, Hilmar Cheese Company, Inc., Save Mart Supermarkets, and a plethora of more.
“Some things we look for are ag backgrounds, a little bit of financial experience, and other different commodities depending on the job,” Michael Mora, Yosemite Farm Credit Appraisal Trainee said.
Looking around the room, you see students dressed to impress and hoping for the best as they entered the room, some with resumes and some without, but all in search of information and opportunities, companies excited to speak with all who were there, and an array of feelings ranging from excited anxiousness to determination.
I encourage you to attend the next Career Fair for at least a little while, and keep an open mind, you might be surprised about some jobs sparking your interest.
