Stan State Stockton campus told to shelter in place after a potential shooting on N. California St. in Stockton, CA.
Initially, an alert was sent to students in Turlock and Stockton regarding police activity near campus. It was quickly noted that the alert only pertained to the Stockton campus.

On Facebook, the Stockton Police Department reposted a video from the Stocktivities page, which provided evidence that a shooting had occurred.

Despite the shelter-in-place order being lifted at 2:19 p.m., reports say that the area where the crime occurred is currently blocked off.

While other platforms have confirmed the shooting, Stan State has yet to make an official statement regarding the reasoning behind the shelter in place.

Steve Olson Chief of Police for UPD gave a statement, “UPD was made aware that Stockton PD was investigating a shooting that occurred off campus today near the Stockton Campus, Wednesday, November 12, 2025. A Shelter-in-place was sent to our Stockton Campus community as precaution due to police activity in the area. The situation has since been resolved, and authorities from Stockton PD has deemed the area safe.”
There have been many speculations on various social media platforms, but no official statement has been made at this time.
