Many college students have a difficult time when trying to reach physical goals. When juggling jobs, homework and classes there is not much time or motivation to track your progress on the long journey to a healthy lifestyle.
Wouldn’t it be nice if there was someone to do that for you? Thanks to the Student Recreation Complex (SRC), now there is.
As of two weeks ago, the SRC is now offering personal training to students, faculty, staff and alumni at California State University, Stanislaus. Trainers will work one-on-one with students on attaining their goals. This can include decreasing body fat, toning and strengthening muscles, lowering blood pressure or cholesterol, staying motivated, marathon training and increasing energy.
First–time clients are required to go through a fitness assessment on their first visit with a trainer. This assessment consists of talking over goals, and evaluating current fitness levels.
“It is all about working on personal goals,” said Dan Houlden, Director of the SRC.
The cost of a personal trainer with the SRC makes it a reasonable decision for students. The one time fitness assessment costs $25, and one-on-one training sessions cost $30 when purchasing one to five sessions.
If you plan on attending regularly, and purchase five or more sessions, the price drops to $25 a session. Each session is an hour long.
It can be hard to keep yourself accountable, and sometimes a little competition helps. The SRC also offers two-on-one personal training. If two friends would like to give it a shot together, the price is cut down to $20 per person for one to five sessions, and $15 for five or more.
Another perk is that SRC allows students to pick their trainers. Trainers Miles Neisser and Denise Romo are both Certified Personal Trainers, and current CSU Stanislaus students. Let them help you track your progress and reach your goals!
“I think that personal trainers are good because they keep you motivated and on track,” Jordan Durrer (senior, Communication Studies) said. “When working out by yourself you can get distracted easily, but with a personal trainer that won’t happen.”
On top of personal training, the SRC unveiled the boulders on Feb. 22 for the celebration of National Recreational Sports and Fitness Day. The day long event was a success, with the most popular experience being the boulder competition.
“The students had a great time and are excited about the addition of the boulders and increased programming at the SRC,” Houlden said. “The student commitment to staying fit and healthy are strong here.”
Students can sign up for their first session at the front desk of the SRC. To find more information visit the Warrior Personal Training website (csustan.edu/src).
