With today being Valentine’s Day, I am sure there are a few of you who are scrambling to get or make those last minute gifts for your significant other, friends or family. With the help of Pinterest and a few other resources, here are five quick, easy and original gift ideas for anyone on your list.
1. Scented Valentine’s Day cards: On a regular white piece of paper, start by cutting out a heart shape and removing the heart center piece to create a heart shaped stencil. Glue the stencil heart to a piece of card stock (preferably use a glue stick). To make the scented food coloring, mix any color food coloring and some frosting (try to find a color that matches your scent). For example, to make an orange scented card you would need to get orange food coloring and orange flavored frosting creations. Next put a few drops on you card and then use a straw to blow the scented food coloring all over the card or inside the heart. To finish the card, decorate it however you would like.
2. Heart-Shaped S’more Pops: Use a small heart shaped cookie cutter to cut hearts out of the graham crackers (make sure you apply slow and even pressure). Lay the graham cracker heart cutout down on a cookie sheet and place chocolate chips and marshmallows on top. Then place your creation in the oven (on broil ) and wait until the marshmallow puffs start to brown slightly. Take the s’mores out, sandwich it with another heart-shaped graham cracker, insert a stick and let cool.
3. Valentine’s Day Fruit: Take a small heart shaped cookie cutter and some shish kabob sticks. Then take your favorite fruit, slice it into half inch sections and evenly press down on the cookie cutter. Then take out the middle piece and you have a heart. You can intermix the fruit by placing a heart shaped pineapple piece into a slice of watermelon or put the fruit on a shish kabob stick.
4. Valentine Twig Arrows: This will take a little bit of sewing work, but you do not need a sewing machine to do this. All you need it as many four to five inch long twigs you want and some felt. Cut two pieces of the felt into an arrowhead shape and sew the two pieces together, but leave a small hole at the bottom of the felt so you can glue the arrow inside of the two pieces. Then make a tail feather and once again sew the two pieces together, leaving a small hole in the bottom to glue the stick inside. You can add a small touch and put a little note attached to it.
5. 52 Reasons Why I love you: This requires a deck of cards, stickers and paper. Decorate each individual card with reasons why you love or care for that person. The writing on the card can be things they do, inside jokes or things they say. Then hole punch three holes in each card and you can put ribbon through the holes to bring all the cards together so it looks like a mini book.
