California State University, Stanislaus’s Annual Warrior Day is coming up on May 9. Everyone is urged to come out and enjoy some fun in the sun with performing artists, fun activities and much more. The event will open its gates to students and their guests at 1 p.m. and will close at 6 p.m.
“We urge the students to come out and enjoy themselves,” said Aubrey Nelson, Interim Assistant Director of Programs and Leadership. “This event is funded by the students, so we would like them to attend to take full advantage of the day.”
Performing artists who are on the list so far include DJ Tyler Barker who will be spinning a mixture of tracks throughout the other performances.  Barker is known around campus from other performances at CSU Stanislaus.  Also on the list is Irietide, a local reggae band. Adding an airy, soulful feeling to the event with their relaxed beats and smooth vocals, this music will be sure to get you ready for the summer.
Libertad Norteña will also be performing on Warrior Day. Guests are encouraged to dance to the joyous sounds of Mexico.  In addition to these performers, a special guest may be added to the list closer to the date.
“It’s all about having a good time and relaxing before the end of the year,” said Lyzz Zaragoza, ASI Programs Assistant. “It’s really nice that we have this event to offer students in a safe environment.”
Other activities include a rock wall and a zip-line that will have attendees soaring above the campus.
Another activity is Monkey Motion: Students are hooked up to a harness and will be able to jump, flip and kick while jumping on a trampoline. There will also be personalized Henna tattoos, leather bracelets and dog tags.
Big Al, the “PinUpShow” and caricature artist, will be on site to bring out a totally new side of any guest who attends this station. Some of his work is available at pinupshow.com.Food and drinks will be served by Chartwells, which is working on creating some yummy fair-like treats to serve on the day of the event.
Absolutely no alcohol will be sold at or allowed into the event. Students are urged to be safe with any activities they participate in before, during and after the event.
“We want everyone to have fun and we ask that students be responsible and respectful on this day,” Nelson said. “UPD and others will be at the event to ensure a safe environment for all.”
All activities and artists were chosen by Code Red with the students’ opinion in mind. Since it is student-funded, they like to get feedback from students and analyze the budget to determine what they can afford.
Held on the first Friday of each May, Warrior Day is an event all Warriors should attend. Go out to the Amphitheatre, make a new tradition and have a little fun. Spring Break has already passed, but it’s not too late to let loose before the end of the year.
Tickets are free for students and $12 for up to two guests if picked up by May 8 at the Warrior Activities Center (WAC). On the day of the event, tickets will be sold to students and guests for $15.
