Due to enrollment capacity, for the first time California State University, Stanislaus closed down registration for Spring 2014 earlier than usual.
The order came from the Office of the Provost and is being re-evaluated on a day-to-day basis.
The last opportunity to add classes was Jan. 31.
“The Enrollment Services department understands the stress students are under and is doing everything in their power to make sure this doesn’t happen again,” Fatima Elias, Enrollment Services Administrative Support, said.
“We are lucky we were able to open registration again for certain days earlier.”
There are some exceptions to the registration shutdown, and it applies solely to the CSU Stanislaus seniors.
All graduating seniors are eligible to fill out the unit excess form to ensure they obtain the necessary units in order to fulfill all graduation requirements.
As of right now, there is no telling whether the registration constraint is going to be in effect every term.
But, there will be an evaluation of enrollment throughout the term in order to see how upcoming terms are handled.
“This whole registration thing sucks,” Jorge Chavez (junior, Liberal Studies) said.
“I can’t take the classes I need or even enough classes to move forward with my general education.”
The last day to drop classes is Census Date: Friday, Feb. 21.
If a class is not dropped before Feb. 22, a student will receive a Withdrawal (W) on their academic transcript.
A W does not impact GPA but is permanent on transcripts.
“I never knew schools could even have registration problems like this.
“I don’t know if it’s going to be like this every term, but I sure hope not or else I’m going to be here forever,” Chavez said.
