With a dominant 67-49 victory over Sonoma State, the Warrior men’s basketball team improved to 10-0 at Ed and ertha Fitzpatrick Arena for the first time in school history.
The 2002-03 men’s basketball team still holds the school record at 12-3.
With four home games remaining this season the team will have a chance to break the record.
The Warriors have had a successful winter; sitting at 13-5 overall, they find themselves tied for fourth in the crowded California Collegiate Athletics Association standings.
Led by center Marcus Bell and guard Clinton Trembling, the Warriors have been competitive in every game they have played.
In Saturday’s rout of Sonoma State, Trembling and Bell paved the way for the Warriors with 16 and 15 points, respectively. Bell also added 17 rebounds and blocked five shots to lead the Warriors defensive effort.
The three-point shot has been a vital tool in the toolbox for the Warriors as they added another seven in Saturday’s victory.
The stakes could not be higher for the Warriors as they try to improve to 11-0 at home.
The team will host the first place and No. 7 ranked Cal State San Bernardino on Feb. 7. The night will also be homecoming for the Warriors, with tip-off set to take place at 7:30 P.M. The homecoming rally will take place before tip-off.
Over the winter break, the Warriors traveled to San Bernardino and lost to the Coyotes 87-72. The Coyotes had five players reach double digits in scoring in the last matchup.
The Warriors will host the UC San Diego Tritons the following night (Feb. 8) at 7:30 P.M.
