The Warrior women’s basketball team is currently in the midst of a season high four-game losing streak as they dropped  both home games,  the first against San Francisco State and the second to Sonoma State last weekend.
San Francisco State snuck by the Warriors last Friday winning with a final score of 82-80. The Warriors had a chance to win the game at the buzzer, but junior Briana Cotton’s three pointer missed the mark as time expired.
The Warriors were led by sophomore Jasmine Washington and freshman Ana Burch. Washington collected 24 points while Burch added 16 points, six assists, and three steals to go along with her two blocked shots.
Senior Lauren Goode also added to her impressive season as she scored 12 points and snatched 15 rebounds, earning her second double-double of the season.
Just a day later, the Warriors fell to Sonoma State by 13, ending with the final score of 71-58. The Warrior loss snapped Sonoma State’s nine-game losing streak while also dropping Stanislaus to 10-8 overall and 7-7 in conference play.
Cotton bounced back from a disappointing performance Friday night against San Francisco State, ending the second game of the weekend with 22 of the 58 points for the Warriors.
Cotton was the only positive note for the Warriors as she connected on 8 of her 11 shots, with the rest of the team struggling to find its shot, only connecting on 12 of 51.
The Warriors started the winter break off well, winning their first three, but since have lost six of their last eight games.
Now sitting on the outside of the playoffs, the Warriors have a limited amount of time to claw back into the playoff push as only six games remain in the season.
The Warriors’ next opportunity to get back on the court is this Friday when they face Cal State San Bernardino.
Then on Saturday, the Tritons from UC San Diego invade Ed and Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena, with both games starting at 5:30 P.M.
