Every year at California State University, Stanislaus, the baseball field turns into a platform for something other than America’s favorite pastime. The CSU Stanislaus Warriors baseball team puts on a great fundraising event entitled Fan Fest.
Fan Fest is a BBQ cook-off and Car Show that increases funding for our baseball program. It will be held on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 4-9 p.m. at Warrior Baseball Field.
This event has a lot to offer besides raising money for the baseball team; it gives the students and community a chance to come out to the field, interact with the players and coaches, enjoy some great food, live music and have a lot of fun.
“Fanfest is a great event to show the community and our fans how great of a program we have,” Amanda Rosas, Marketing and Sponsorship Assistant, said, “and how our facilities have developed over the years because of the support from them.”
Fan Fest is a great event for the entire family. Some of the family activities at Fan Fest include: a whiffle ball game, homerun derby, bounce houses, carnival games, a hitting challenge and a pro batter machine. There will also be live music performed by Greg Scdder and the Beer: 30.
The car show and cook-off are the bread and butter of this fantastic event. The car show will include some of the finest classic and modern automobiles provided by members of the community for your viewing pleasure.
The awards that will be given for the car show include: Best in Show, People’s Choice and every participant will receive a dash plaque. To enter the car show the entry fee is $40.
The cook-off will consist of three courses: ribs, tri-tip and (of course) chili. The awards that will be given for the cook-off are: Best Ribs, Best Tri-tip, Best Chili and People’s Choice.
This year, the cook-off is divided into two groups: Backyard BBQ and Competitive BBQ.
To enter the cook-off for ribs the entry fee is $60, for tri-tip it is $60 and for chili the entry fee is $20. All meat (ribs, tri-tip) will be provided to the meat-cooking participants, but chili must be provided by the participants.
