Halloween, or All Hallows Eve, comes every year on Oct. 31 and is one of the most celebrated holidays of the season. Most Halloween costumes tend to be monsters, vampires, ghosts and witches, but as time went on costumes started to change from folklore characters to more modern figures. People began to dress up as celebrities, fictional characters and princes or princesses.
With Halloween quickly approaching, many people are still trying to figure out what they are going to wear for their costume. There are always so many things people can wear or dress up as, so here are some ideas for those last-minute costumes.
This year’s new, top-selling costume ideas for men are: Uncle Si, The Joker, Austin Powers, Mr. Incredible, The Kool-Aid Man, “The Avengers” Thor and the Top Gun flight suit.
If you’re trying to save some money on the other hand, homemade costumes are simple and cheap. For men, some DIY costume ideas are: fisherman, corner store bum and mobster. Dressing up as rappers or actors are also great homemade costume ideas.
Some of the top selling women’s costumes for this year are: “The Avengers” Black Widow, Dark Sorceress, Spider Girl, Despicable Me lady minion, Supergirl, Batman Classic 1966 Heritage Catwoman, Star Wars Storm Trooper, Elsa from Disney’s “Frozen”, Mary Poppins and Maleficent’s Christening Black Gown.
For women trying to save some extra money there are also many choices. Making some cat ears out of cardboard, coloring them black, and wearing all black is a simple way to have a cat costume.
Another good idea would be to get all green or purple balloons, fill them with air and tape them to your body and become a cluster of grapes. Two more last minute costumes for tight budgets: you can paint your face with a Day of the Dead sugar skull or shaping cardboard into a ball around your body, painting it white with a clay-colored happy-face-hand and you have a Wilson volleyball costume.
When looking for these last-minute costumes, a great resource for ideas would be to search websites like Pinterest or YouTube. There you can get all the direction and instruction you may need for purchasing or creating your costume ideas.
