The six-week fundraising campaign, One Purpose, launched last month with the sole intent of raising money for California State University, Stanislaus.
“We will certainly be able to take pride in one another’s accomplishments as we work together toward our goal of raising $1 million for student scholarships,” Jacqueline Holt, Director of Annual Giving, said.
One Purpose is bringing together 300 volunteers made up of CSU Stanislaus alumni, current students and local business leaders.
“CSU Stanislaus and young students are a great investment,” said John Jeter, CEO and President of Hilmar Cheese Company. “It’s a real win-win for the students and for the success of our region.”
Two weeks into the campaign, One Purpose has raised over $116,000 and continues to gain momentum.
With donations coming in the form of pledges from alumni, local businesses and other supporters in the community, their contributions show just how important student success is to the Turlock community.
“We have been sharing the fact that 80 percent of CSU Stanislaus graduates live here and contribute to the region — people are so impressed when they realize the impact that has on the community,” Alison Allen, CSU Stanislaus alumna, said.
Several individuals have made $10,000 donations to the fundraiser, one of them being CSU Stanislaus alumna, Nola Moccafiche.
The Stockton resident was inspired by what One Purpose is doing for students. With her donation, she reached the highest tier of One Purpose donors.
Campaign volunteers have remained excited and motivated to reach their goal all the while knowing just how important their work is to their community.
“When we tell people about our involvement in One Purpose and the opportunity to provide scholarships for students, we’ve found that they have already been hearing buzz about the fund drive in the community,” Allen said.
“And they are just ready to give.”
One Purpose is also making an effort to show the community its progress throughout their campaign by updating a sign located at the intersection of Monte Vista Avenue and Geer Road each week.
