Mandatory Paid Sick Days- Nearly all California employers are going to be required to from at least three paid sick days to their employees. According to the LA times, the law will give 6.5 million workers paid sick leave that didn’t have it before. Employees can start using the paid leave 90 days after start of employment.
Undocumented Immigrants Can Receive Driver’s a License- Undocumented immigrants can now apply for a California state driver’s license. The Department of Motor Vehicles expects an estimate of 1.4 million immigrants to apply within a few years, according to KQED.com.
Firing Teachers who Commit Acts of Sexual Abuse- This law would make it easier to fire teachers who sexually abuse children. The law was created, because an Los Angeles school district was having trouble firing a teacher who committed sexual abuse because of their termination policy. A teacher accused of sexual assault would have 30 days after firing to request an independent hearing, and the trail would start within 60 days. The laws goal is to speed up the process.
