While this week has featured sever-al events hosted by ASI/USU for Homecoming 2015, Warrior Athletics is still hoping to shed a light on the talented athletes that have called Stanislaus home in the past and present.
Homecoming for Athletics will kick off with the women’s basketball game on Feb. 6th at 5:30 p.m. followed by the men’s basketball game at 7:30 p.m. Both teams will be facing the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos. The last time the Warriors faced Cal Poly Pomona was on the road over winter break, where both teams lost.
Aside from the fierce competition, the games will also feature performances from the Pitman High School Band, the Pitman High School Color Guard, and the Stanislaus Cheerleaders.
“We’re expecting a packed house,” Hung P. Tsai, Warrior Athletics Assistant Athletics Director and Sports Information Director, said. “We want to warn every-one to come early.”
Despite the packed house and schedule for an intense game, Athletics is looking forward to Saturday’s focus on their athletes. Starting with a luncheon in the Main Dining Hall at 10 a.m., Warrior Athletics will induct seven players into the Athletics Hall of Fame. Saturday night has another busy schedule including both basketball games, which are specifically welcoming Warrior Athletics Alumni.
“We’re excited to be working with ASI and housing Homecoming and getting our athletes out there this week,” said Amanda Rosas, Warrior Athletics Marketing and Sponsorships Assistant. “I think it is not about just winning for athletes, but it is about getting our name out there and participating in the campus events.”
