California State University, Stanislaus’ faculty and staff continue to address the importance of eliminating sexual discrimination within education by conducting a Title IX event. Faculty Affairs has allied with College of The Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences to sponsor the event on Feb. 23 at the Faculty Development Center (FDC 118).
For those interested, the event will provide free parking in Lot 8, and the event is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
“I am looking forward to attending as this is a topic I have heard much about, yet I have not involved myself in receiving further information,” Linnet Alvarado (junior, Liberal Studies) said.
This event is aimed to not only inform attendees of the issue that continues to be addressed on and off our campus but to also provide research analysis and information composed by Sarah K. Fields, Associated Professor of Communication at the University of Colorado.
Fields has completed research and studies that have allowed her to draw information regarding the rights protected by Title IX and the Fourteenth Amendment.
Aside from her research, she is the successful author of Female Gladiators and has taught courses on Communication and Sport, making her an award-winning professor.
Admission is free and is a great opportunity for those interested in expanding their knowledge and understanding of Title IX. For any questions or concerns, contact the Department of History at 209-667-3238 or www.csustan.edu/history.
