The Resendiz Family Fruit Barn has been serving their tasty treats in the Turlock area for over 25 years, and every October they feature a pumpkin patch along with a maze and a tricycle track for kids all over the community.
The Fruit Barn is a pumpkin patch that has everything you can imagine, including a huge selection of pumpkins, delectable fruits, pies, cookies, smoothies and even a hay maze. This illusion of the perfect pumpkin patch becomes a reality at the Fruit Barn, where any sweet-tooth craving can be fulfilled.
The Fruit Barn has many activities to keep children busy. The hay maze is composed of around 2000 bales of hay and completely covered, so a flashlight is necessary. The maze is pitch black inside and pretty challenging to get through unless you have a flashlight to guide you.
If the children are too scared to go into the dark maze, they can take a ride through the tricycle track that has multiple road signs throughout it to provide a bit of humor. They can even choose from a variety of pumpkins that are grown at the farm, or take a pony ride with one of the horses from the mini petting zoo.
“We started to do school tours and actually we got a good response from schools all around,” owner Francisco Resendiz said. “And then they just wanna keep coming on the weekends, so that’s how the Halloween activities start.”
Resendiz explained that the activities are specifically aimed for children and that he loves seeing their happy faces.
“I enjoy the kids,” Resendiz said. “The main thing is that we just focus on the small kids so they have fun. We have been a great success.”
Though, do not get discouraged to come if you are not a child. The Fruit Barn has an array of foods and drinks that will get your mouth watering.
As soon as you enter the store, the aroma of baked goods hits your nose abruptly and you are drawn to their impressive display of home-made fruit pies. The pies are one of their best-selling products, and they come in a variety of flavors.
“When we opened the Fruit Barn, I wanted to have our own recipes,” Resendiz said. “We did not want to copy somebody else’s.”
Resendiz recommended trying a boysenberry pie since it is his favorite, but they all look so delicious that it makes the decision difficult.
Their store also sells all kinds of fresh grown fruits, along with numerous decorated cookies that are baked there. Those same fruits are also used to create their great tasting smoothies that are sold in multiple flavors.
Make sure to stop by The Resendiz Family Fruit Barn to check out their Halloween festivities and also fulfill that sweet-tooth craving with the many scrumptious options they offer.
The Fruit Barn is located at 4342 Geer Road in Hughson. You can also check out their website at resendizfruitbarn.com.
