As students start a new semester at California State University (CSU) Stanislaus, they can rest assure they made a smart decision on where to attend college. CSU Stanislaus has recently been placed on the Princeton Review’s list of the nation’s best 380 colleges for the tenth consecutive year.
“Stanislaus provides affordable education that focuses on helping students prepare for their careers with professional, yet laid-back demeanor,” the review said.
According to the Princeton Review Website, “The rankings are based on surveys of 136,000 students (averaged 358 per campus) at the 380 colleges in the book in 2014-15 and/or the previous two years. The survey asks students 80 questions about their school’s academics, administration, student body and themselves. The ranking methodology uses a five-point Likert scale to convert qualitative assessments into quantitative data for school-to-school assessment,”
Sonoma State and CSU Stanislaus are the only two California State Universities that are on the top 380 list. President Joseph F. Sheley released a statement regarding the universities inclusion on the list.
“To be among the best for academics is a wonderful reflection of our university, especially our faculty,” Sheley said. “And to be ranked for 10 consecutive years is a significant achievement.”
The review of the university from the student perspective also includes some things could be better.
“Though Stanislaus offers scenery as beautiful and varied as the student and awesome weather, popular complaints ae that buildings need updating and there are too many geese on the grounds,” the review said.
The listing also points out that CSU Stanislaus accepts 73 percent of its applicants and 42 percent of their students graduate in four years.
CSU Stanislaus earlier this year also appeared on the Forbes.com national rankings of colleges and Universities. The University ranked No. 471 nationally and ranked No. 89 among all colleges in the western region.
