After an unexpected delay, Turlock’s first Yogurt Mill opened its doors on August 18. Originally scheduled to open on July 15, structural support issues in the roof of neighboring Little Caesar’s Pizza caused the grand opening to be postponed for another month. There are three Yogurt Mills currently operating in Modesto, and the new Turlock location is the company’s first venture into a new town.
Located at 2591 Geer Road, Yogurt Mill is Turlock’s first frozen yogurt shop to have a drive-thru, but there is also an indoor dining room for those who like to sit and enjoy their frozen treat. The excitement of Turlock residents was evident as the line of cars in the drive-thru snaked through the Geer Gardens parking lot on opening day. Customers were greeted by balloons as well as a sign-twirling Yogurt Mill mascot, and those who received a Grand Opening coupon at the downtown 4th of July Parade were able to redeem them for free frozen yogurt.
Yogurt Mill offers different flavors on their menu everyday, including many that are unique to the shop such as pumpkin pie and s’mores. Those who are curious about what flavors are being offered on any given day can call 209-634-MILL, also known as the “Flavor Line.”
Turlock resident and California State University, Stanislaus graduate Lauren Nagle is excited about Turlock’s new frozen yogurt option, and attended the shop’s grand opening.
“The other fro-yo shops in Turlock are good, but I really like the diversity of flavors at Yogurt Mill and the option to go through the drive-thru. When it’s late at night and I don’t feel like getting ready, I can still get yogurt without getting out of my car,” Nagle said.
Others must agree with Nagle’s enthusiasm for the new Yogurt Mill. Since its opening, a steady flow of traffic has poured through both the drive-thru and the dining area. It is safe to say that the frozen yogurt shop has found a welcoming home in Turlock.
Yogurt Mill is open Monday-Thursday 10 a.m. – 10:30 p.m., Friday-Saturday 10 a.m. – 11 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. – 10:30 p.m.
