1. Ron A. Macedo (R.A.M.) Farms Pumpkin Patch and corn maze will be open from Sept. 28 – Oct. 31. There will be an acre corn maze and Freaky Flashlight Nights on weekends. There are 40 varieties of locally grown pumpkins. Some fun activities you can participate in include: a hay maze, pumpkin bowling, sandbox, pedal tractors and a “scary shed.” R.A.M. 2. A Murder Mystery Dinner will be hosted on Oct. 20 at 4 p.m. The murder mystery dinner show will be held aboard a train with multiple options for dinner, with prices varying by food choice. It is a light-hearted show for a memorable evening of laughter and good food while traveling the countryside. The train departs from 330 S. Sierra Ave., Oakdale. 3. Dell’Osso Farms pumpkin maze is available to the public from Sept. 29 – Oct. 31 and is open
from 10 a.m. – last entry at 8 p.m. Dell’Osso Farms also has a haunted castle, mystery tour ride, zip lines, Dell’Osso Express train, pumpkin blasters, gem mining, pumpkins, kiddie land, pony rides, petting zoo, face painting, tram, tractor train, scarecrow ride, hay rides, speedway and a tire pyramid. 4. Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) will be hosting a Great America Theme Park Halloween Trip in Santa Clara on Oct. 27. Signups will begin Oct. 12 at the information desk. Contact ASI for more information at (209) 667-3849.
5. A Halloween Masquerade dance will be held on Oct. 31, presented by Turlock Pentecost Association. There will be prizes for the top three costumes. The dance will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight located at the Turlock Ballroom, 528 Golden State Blvd. The dance will be free of charge. Contact 209-634-0576 with any questions.
6. The dorms at California State University, Stanislaus will host a Haunted House Halloween Gala on Oct. 31 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. The gala will include a haunted house, carnival games, children’s book giveaway and trick-or-treating.
7. Ceres Community Center will hold a Halloween Festival Oct. 31 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. and is free of charge. This event will have carnival games, a costume contest, crafts, face painting, science fun, haunted courtyard, spooky story time and carriage rides to a hay maze. The Community Center is located at 2701 Fourth Street in Ceres.
8. Apple Hill is a family friendly location that offers many activities during the fall season. Some of those activities include a haunted nature trail from Oct. 26-31 and Trick-or-Treating on Oct. 27 & 28. For details visit www.applehill.com.
9. The 2012 World Series will be the 108th edition of Major League Baseball’s championship. Game one will be held Oct. 24. Visit mlb.com for details.
Online Bonus: A 5k zombie run will be held in Sacramento on Oct. 27 at 8 a.m. The run will include obstacles and zombies which will cause you to get dirty and “bloody”. There will be food and entertainment at the end of the race at a Quarantine party. The location of the zombie run will be 2790 Marina View Drive, Sacramento.
