Ally (LGBTQIA) community celebrated Modesto Pride Saturday Sept. 15. The day event was a success as many families enjoyed the day in the park supporting and celebrating Modesto Pride. “It’s for the people in our communities, and we are nothing without you, so please show your support.” stated Modesto Pride President, Ramiro Asencio II.
The nightlife did not disappoint in turnout for venues as members of the community continued the celebration. College students, locals, people from the bay area, and people from Southern California waited in lines that wrapped around buildings in hopes of getting their after party started. “This line may be taking a while, but I’m here to celebrate the diversity of this area by dancing and having a worry-free night enjoying seeing my friends express themselves without prejudice,” Blake Anderson, local resident, said.
The newly-opened venue Climax seemed to be the hottest spot for the night, while other local venues such as Tiki Lounge and The Brave Bull were crowded with people smiling and dancing while celebrating diversity. Climax offered a taco truck, a bar, and a DJ outside. Climax also featured Drag performances. The Tiki Lounge featured gogo dancers, prizes, and special entertainment by several performers.
Drag queen performances seemed to be the highlight of the night. The ladies of the hour took center stage singing and dancing their hearts out, followed by much enthusiasm and cheering from the crowds. The outfits reflected creativity and feminine sensuality while confusing some members of the audience, leaving them guessing. “She looked so flawless I didn’t even think twice until my friend pointed out that the sex of the performer was male, “ Chris Martin, local resident said.
The bars were crowded and while bartenders were hustling it seemed a constant challenge to keep up with orders from thirsty attendees. The overall atmosphere of the nightlife was joy and celebration. Modesto Pride now has another year to prepare for the anticipated event. Security was present ensuring everyone had a safe fun time. The venues offered taxi services to encourage responsibility and ensure safety.
