The new marketing club, called MarketInc., will be official this coming spring 2018, offering interactions with industry leading professionals and alumni, explore career opportunities in marketing, and gaining behind-the-scene insights on field trips and company tours.
MarketInc., will focus on providing a variety of unique opportunities to enhance students experience outside of the classroom, while having fun connecting with other members.
“There’s not really anything like this club on campus, and I am sure that I am not the only student that is looking for help or direction towards marketing goals. I feel like being involved in this marketing club will help me go in the right direction for my future goals,” Alondra Santana (junior/Business Administration) said.
Academic Advisor and professor, Gina Donahue, provides value and perceptiveness for the new marketing club through real-life experiences. Donahue’s passion and many years of experience at California State University, Stanislaus (Stan State), provides strong mentoring and guidance to expand to members the knowledge of understanding the field.
“Being a student-run organization, there will be tremendous opportunities for students to use and grow their leadership and marketing creativity. Just in a few short weeks, students have collaborated on creating a brand name, a logo and a detailed promotional plan to recruit members for the club,” Donahue added. “The goal is to continue to provide more of these hands-on experiences and opportunities that students will really enjoy.”
Students will have opportunities to expand their own marketing and leadership skills, visit behind-the-scene tours and company visits, career exploration, professional and personal development workshops and interface with industry leaders and alumni.
“Many of the club’s activities will provide members with networking opportunities with faculty, alumni and regional professionals and businesses. Those contacts will translate into important investments in their future,” Donahue said.
Noriel Mostajo (senior/Business Administration) said that the club will help him be more social with his peers and enjoy his last few months as an undergraduate before he gets to graduate.
“I work two jobs and have class, so I feel like I missed more of a social aspect, but now being close to graduating I want to have a little bit more fun and through this club I am able to do that,” Mostajo said.
MarketInc. is an organization that will discuss different ways marketing can be incorporated to enhance personal and professional lives. The club will offer workshops to expand students knowledge and exposure to how marketing is successfully implemented in the business field. These workshops will have a universal appeal and will be beneficial for any student of any major.
“I never have actually been in an academic club, but I am finishing up fairly soon and I feel like I can bring a lot of new experience to this club. Next semester we hope to all work together to build skills outside the classroom setting, as well as social and network with each other,” Ahmed Abdullah (senior/Business Administration) added.
MarketInc. has visions for the start of next semester, plans to serve not only members, but also bring value to our campus and the surrounding community.
“Giving back should be an essential part of who we are, so I hope to inspire our members to find creative ways to help and serve others as a club, and in their daily lives and future careers” Professor Donahue said.
