In the first of three in their workshop series, the Computer Science (CS) Club put on a workshop class on how to use Microsoft Azure, a cloud computing platform.
If you are unfamiliar with Microsoft Azure program, this platform was developed by Microsoft to build, test and manage applications and services. 
“Attendance was much more than we expected and we were excited to see students come out and learn,” said CS President Austin White (junior, English).
This workshop specifically walked students in a step-by-step process on how to create and analyze videos using this platform.
The workshop consisted of White and Board Member Jasmin Cornejo (junior, Computer Science) walking students through this process with hands-on help as the students moved through a PowerPoint on their computers.
Jasmin Cornejo, who led the workshop, enjoyed the engagement that the students responded with. 
“The students were really engaged and seemed thrilled to learn the content we were putting out,” said Cornejo.
To ensure the material was helpful and learned properly, the attendees took a quiz at the end of the workshop.
Avelardo Valdez (junior, Computer Science), who attended the workshop, was intrigued by the content.
“It was interesting learning how the process was able to index the videos and search for keywords, and it will show who is in the video,” Valdez said. 
If you missed the first workshop, there are still two left. The next workshop, on web development, will take place on the 16th at 5 p.m. in Science 1 Room 137. The third workshop will feature a discussion on iOS, which will be on the 23rd at 5 p.m. in Bava Hall Room 113.
With the Inaugural Hack-A-Thon coming on the 27th, these workshops may enhance your skills and get you ready to compete.
