If you kept tabs on the Signal Instagram during spring break, you caught a glimpse of the hobbies and activities that some of the Signal team enjoys doing in their downtime. A much needed break from this screen-heavy school year, the week off provided our reporters with the opportunity to close their books, peel themselves from their desk chairs, and let their minds wander to things outside of their studies.

With the spring season comes one of my favorite hobbies, which is gardening! It’s a great way to get outside and who doesn’t love plants? I currently live in the house that my late grandma used to live in, and I take care of the roses she planted over 20 years ago. During spring break, I shared a TikTok showing me pruning the roses with a before and after. She passed before I was born, so taking care of her beautiful roses helps me feel connected to her. Spring break is now over, but I will be enjoying blooming roses for months to come!

The much needed spring break allowed me to finish off some tattoo commissions. In exchange for a piece, I will gladly work with friends for food and conversation. Nothing says “I love and I appreciate you” like leaving art pieces on your friends.

I’ve been wanting to go to a comic book store for a while now, and I took the opportunity to visit one this spring break. While there, I found a Funko Pop! of the Winter Soldier, and I was super excited to find it. I was surprised when I got home because I learned that the Pop! is sold out at a lot of stores. It was a fun day and I’m glad that I got to expand my small Funko collection.

Spring break left room for me to get creative with character cosplay and picture editing for works that I enjoy. Becoming Marvel’s Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, and Quake for a while makes way for a fun night combined with shifting the pictures to make the impact stronger. Who doesn’t want to make Scarlet Witch glow with power while wearing her suit?

Spring break allowed me to make a DIY Starbucks Frap, using just a couple ingredients, Mocha powder, milk, ice, and just a scoop of ice cream for a fun creative drink! It was just what I needed to create a fun, relaxing staycation.

My spring break was really relaxing. I spent time walking my dog and going out to the agricultural fields to take pictures. I cleaned my entire house, making sure I disinfected every corner. After a productive day, I wound down and did some skincare. I’m happy I had spring break to get my things together.

During spring break, I was able to package some orders for my Etsy shop. I usually want to set aside a decent amount of time to allow me to enjoy making my products and packaging them. Since I know that aesthetically pleasing packaging is important, I liked that spring break allowed me to experiment with the look of my packaging.
We hope the break also gave you some time to be creative and explore other interests. We have T-minus five weeks until the end of the semester, Warriors! Let’s finish off strong!
