It’s that tiiiiimmmeeeee again and boy are we excited to share this one with you all!
In other words, welcome to the third edition of WarriorTunes, the February edition!
Since we here at the Signal took a break in January, we would love to share with you our December edition of WarriorTunes again. This edition will kick off the new year (and the Lunar New Year).
This time the playlist is full of many wonderful songs for all of the holidays occurring this month which are as follows: Black History Month, Valentine’s Day, Galentine’s Day, Lunar New Year and Mardi Gras.
We asked students if they would like to share some songs that they love to hear during this time and we got some beautiful ones, yet again.
Schuyler Becker (junior, English) suggested the song Chemtrails Over The Country Club by Lana Del Rey. “I thought it fit the romantic and relaxed atmosphere around Valentine’s Day and February in general. Also it seemed to fit when you mentioned the Lunar New Year as well.”
Lorena Jurado (senior, Psychology) suggested the wonderful song All of Me by John Legend.
In addition to what the students chose, we asked our staff to choose some songs as well.
To name a few, our reporter Essence Saunders brought us the vibes of Mardi Gras with the album Just Be Free by Big Freedia. The sound is as vibrant and joyful as the holiday itself.
Another reporter named Jocelyn Burke chose a song by the great Mary J. Blige who was recently announced as a nominee for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2021.
In the playlist, we also added songs to pay tribute to other great artists like Ben E. King, Ella Fitzgerald and Whitney Houston, in honor of Black History Month. Plenty of love songs are in the playlist as well to help you feel the love for this Valentine’s Day.
Our Spotify playlist is available to access here and the playlist is collaborative for all to add songs that they would love to share.
We cannot wait to see you again next month! Can you guess what the theme might be? Hint: with a little luck of the Irish, we can enjoy ourselves when the pandemic finally ends as we head to the beaches and other various places when it is safe to do so.
See you next time! We hope you all enjoy the playlist.
