Perspective Fall 2019 Stan State students and their families came to campus this past weekend to participate in the university’s annual open house.
“This is the biggest recruitment event for high school students, and transfer students are welcome as well,” Sara Balisha, a staff member for Stan State’s Admissions and Outreach team, said.
Katherine Wood, who is also a staff member for Stan State’s Admissions and Outreach team, said the event was for students who have applied or would like to apply to attend Stan State as well as their accompanying family members. It was aimed to “get them excited for college,” Wood added.
At this event, students and families were able to take tours of the campus, get early admission and get their admission packets early. They even had a resource fair, which gave the students and families a chance to meet with department faculty, department representatives and student clubs.
Briana Rodriguez, a senior at Ceres High School, applied early to Stan State for Liberal Studies. She said one of the reasons she applied early to Stan State was because “it is close to home” and it has what she wants in a university. “It is a win-win!,” Rodriguez said.
The open house served not only as a way for future students to get an idea of what Stan State specifically has to offer them but what college life is really about as well.
Wood expected 700 people to come and see what the campus has to offer, and “that includes students and families,” she said.
