About

The Signal at California State University, Stanislaus

The Signal is the student newspaper of California State University, Stanislaus. The entire organization is run by students; writing, editing, print layout and design, graphic design, website management, social media interaction, etc. Our team strives to deliver the finest, most recent news on local and international topics of interest. With 8,000 total students on campus, The Signal is well known and well seen in the community. The Signal was recognized at the 2016 national convention of Associated Collegiate Press, placing seventh nationally.

The Signal is distributed on and around the CSU Stanislaus campus, as well as in select locations in downtown Turlock. We distribute new publications once a month, and post online daily during regular Spring and Fall semesters.

Mission Statement

Signal news strives with its reporting to empower fellow Stan State students and our community by advocating for truth and equality while celebrating our diversity.

Land Recognition Statement

“We want to formally and with great respect acknowledge that we are on the traditional lands of the Yokut Nation. Our campus, Stanislaus State, is built on the unceded ancestral lands of these Indigenous tribes. Thank you for letting us honor them and give our thanks to their ancestors and descendants for their constant and careful stewardship of this land.”
