All of the efforts, events and programs on campus to help students enjoy their time spent at California State University, Stanislaus are not overlooked. One such effort from Associated Students Incorperated (ASI). brings K-von back for another Comedy Night performance this Friday, Oct. 18 – and you do not want to miss it.
ASI has brought back a laugh-out-loud comedian for the second consecutive semester. K-von, star of MTV’s hit show “Disaster Date,” an international headliner for special events year-round and an excellent stand-up comedian, will be taking the stage here on campus to bring back the same laughs and good times he shared in the spring.
“I remember taking a long golf cart ride over the meadow and through the woods,” K-von said. “It was so fun that I’m coming back again just for that.Actually, I was amazed how nice the campus was. I think you all are keeping Stanislaus a secret from us, and if you keep bringing me back I am going to get the word out.”
The event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Carol Burke Lounge on campus. Getting in free is one of the perks of being a student here (just make sure you have your student I.D. card).
K-von’s style of comedy falls somewhere between Dane Cook and Daniel Tosh with a little Russell Peters sprinkled on top. He advises that if you don’t know who any of those comics are, google them and check out his videos on youtube.com/KvonComedy before he arrives.
K-von is a crowd favorite on stage as he pokes fun at himself, current events and the perils of growing up with a mom from Middle-America and a dad from the Middle-East. He is sure to have you on the edge of your seat, turning to the people next to you in disbelief of how hard he has you laughing.
“Oh, for sure I’m going,” Jessica Verady (junior, Communication Studies) said. “I used to watch this guy’s show on TV all the time. He’s hilarious.”
According to Alisha Cruz’s “Signal” review of K-von’s show last semester, his set covered some of the most relatable and naturally funny material for students, and his honest, personable attitude made each subject seem incredibly fresh.
But why not see for yourself? I followed K-von’s advice, visited the aformentioned YouTube address and found myself watching clip after clip of his show. I couldn’t peel myself away from the computer for a good half hour and was still left wanting more. If this happens to you, which I assure you it will, don’t worry – K-von has you covered.
“I’m excited to announce we have just finished my one-hour comedy album ‘TanxGod!’” K-von said. “It’s PG-13. We filmed it in front of a packed crowd in Orange County with over six cameras, and it looks so good that I just may bring a few copies with me the night of the show, so get there early, pick up a copy, and then be ready to laugh.”
K-von’s final message to us here at CSU Stanislaus is that anyone who messages him on facebook.com/KvonComedy or twitter.com/KvonComedy and mentions this article will get a shoutout at the actual show.
