California State University, Stanislaus (Stan State) will be hosting an Astronomy Night on campus. The event is put on by Society of Physics Students, Department of Physics and the College of Science.
The event will be held Nov. 17 from 5p.m. to 10p.m. The event is only held once a year and will be open to the public.
The night will consist of activities including exploring the night sky and learning about the solar system. There will be a planetarium show as well as an observatory tour.
It event will be held at Naraghi Hall of Science.
Dr. Wing To (Department of Physics) is a part of Science Saturday events and advises for those interested in the planetarium show and observatory tour to reserve seats.
“Those who registered ahead of time are guaranteed a seat in the planetarium show and observatory tour. But we will accommodate as many visitors as possible,” Dr. To said.
The night will be full of exploration and the sky will be perfect for start gazing. The event welcomes all ages.
“We invite the entire Stan State and surrounding community to come get a tour of our observatories. We will also have a planetarium show by Dr. Littlewood.”
“Visitors will also get to learn about the planets of our solar system with student poster presentations,” Dr. To said.
“On Nov. 17, Leonoid Meteor Shower will be at its peak. Look for many shooting stars at night. Friday will be an especially clear night after the rain on Thursday.”
Dr. To urges many to come and explore the night sky.
“Please come for the show, the telescopes, the student posters and the meteor shower!”
The event will be in Naraghi Hall of Science and near the Pond Observatory outside Naraghi.
