Shedding unwanted pounds can be a long, difficult process when not equipped with the proper knowledge and tools. Well, I’m here to say none of us are alone.
A diet typically means a change in eating or drinking habits to achieve desired results. When starting out a diet, everything seems really difficult.
Most of the time spent dieting is miserable because we’re depriving ourselves of all of the foods we enjoy.
From now on, refer to any changes in a diet as transitions to a new lifestyle. We’re not making temporary changes or getting started on the next diet; we’re building lifelong habits and lifelong health.
Unhealthy sugar is what we need to get rid of. It’s one of the main causes of weight gain. Sugar is directly converted to fat by your body, and the more sugar you eat the more weight you will gain.
People think eating fatty food is the main cause of too much weight gain, but that is not true. Other foods composed of carbohydrates, like pasta and bread, also turn into sugar, spike your insulin and have a higher glycemic index than sugar itself.
One step to take would be to look at our diets and take out one item. It could be removing one thing or changing up a meal.
An example would be giving up soda. If you have two 20 oz bottles of Coke every day, that’s 480 calories. If you replace just those with water and leave the rest of your eating exactly the same, you’re going to lose about a pound a week. If you have four, that’s 2 pounds a week, 8 a month, and 96 in a year.
By changing just one habit we can make a positive difference in our lives. I support taking baby steps and going from 4 bottles to 3, then 2, then 1 over a few weeks time.
Remember that no one is alone in a weight loss journey. Always ask questions and stay motivated and you will see the happier healthier you that you can be.
