Students invited on outdoor adventures

Whether you are an incoming freshman, a “super senior” or somewhere in between, a new academic year is upon us and new opportunities await.
The Student Recreation Complex (SRC) at California State University, Stanislaus offers outdoor adventures that are open to students, faculty, staff and the public.
“I love camping. It’s sort of a family tradition for me,” Nicole Bare (sophomore, Biological Sciences) said. “I did not know about these trips, but I am definitely interested in going.”
The SRC is located on the northeastern side of campus at the corner of Geer Road and Christoffersen Parkway.
“We really encourage students to get involved with these trips,” Jennifer Thornton, Student Assistant at the SRC, said.
“They are really great trips and affordably priced.”
The Fall 2013 Trip Schedule includes backpacking and hiking in Yosemite, sandboarding in Monterey, yoga and hiking in Pinecrest and climbing in Pinnacles National Park.
The fees for these adventures include providing the equipment needed, transportation and food (unless otherwise noted). You just sign up and show up. It’s that easy, and very convenient.
Remember, in college (just like anything), you get out of it what you put into it.  Take a break from the books and enjoy yourself and the outdoors.
These trips are open to the public, so bring a friend, a cousin, a neighbor, your great aunt or the dancing man on the corner with the sign and the cool tricks.
For more information or to sign up for these adventures, go online to www.csustan.edu/src/OutdoorAdventure.html or visit the SRC.
