Warrior Rewind

Missed the basketball game again because of midterms? No worries – Warrior Rewind has your back.
A weekly recap and preview of university athletics, Warrior Rewind makes it easy to catch up on Stanislaus sports teams and is posted to the university athletics page and YouTube.
“It’s a sports show that goes over everything that’s happened with our Warrior athletics teams in the last week,” reporter Tricia Garcia (senior, Communication Studies) said.
“We get highlights once in a while. We interview players after they win. It’s just all about supporting our Warrior athletics.”
Garcia got involved with the show after it was started last year by alumnus Kenny Mashinchi and Signal staff writer Natalie Winters.
“I think it connects athletics to the students and the community,” Mashinichi said.
“Because we are a D2 school, people [think that] sports aren’t that serious. In reality, they are – and we have great athletic teams. Our women’s soccer team are champions.
“Our men’s basketball team are now champions. Our women’s indoor track team are headed to nationals this weekend. We have incredible talent here.”
Warrior Rewind is a student-run show. The dedication of students, many of whom are Communication Studies majors, to support athletics has led to the success of the show.
In addition to her job and classes, Garcia spends at least 10 hours each week working on Warrior Rewind.
Mashinchi started the show as a way to build his portfolio and to promote athletics on campus.
“Warrior Rewind is a great boost to the visibility of Warrior athletics,” Mashinichi said.
“The amount of people that have come up to me and said they’ve seen the show is outstanding and I know the future is bright for the show because the new core of students is phenomenal. I’m glad to see that something I put a great deal of time and effort into is being continued and praised throughout the campus.”
Warrior Rewind is recommended for all students who want to experiment with broadcast journalism.
Anyone looking to get involved with the show can contact Hung Tsai, the Sports Information Director.
