Stanislaus State’s homecoming week is here and back to an in-person format for the first time in nearly two years.
Last year, the Stan State campus was not able to have a traditional homecoming week because of COVID-19 as events were held in only a virtual format.
Homecoming nominees expressed their excitement for the week as they get the chance to compete against one another in-person while having fun and being able to represent their campus.

“I’m incredibly excited for this Homecoming post-COVID to show some campus pride as well as get our students pumped with campus spirit,” said Phi Mu nominee Trinity Morataya (senior, Communication Studies).

There will be several events for the Stan State and surrounding community to look forward to. Here is a complete breakdown of all of this year’s homecoming events at Stanislaus State:

Monday, February 21: Meet Your Match, Homecoming Kickoff (Quad @ 10 a.m. -1 p.m.)

This event encourages students to get hyped up for the homecoming basketball games on Thursday, February 24 against the East Bay Pioneers. There will be music, games, entertainment and more in the quad to get the Stan State campus community excited for the remainder of the week.

Monday, February 21: Elimination Games (Valley Conference Room @ 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.)

The Elimination Games will be an event where homecoming nominees will compete against each other and play childhood-like games with an adult twist. It is inspired by the popular show on Netflix, Squid Games. The event is expected to bring out the competitive side of the nominees.

The homecoming nominee for Phi Sigma Sigma, Daisi Morales (junior, History), said that she is very excited for this event since she will be competing with five other members of her organization against other on-campus organizations.

Tuesday, February 22: Warriors Giving Back – Blood Drive Event (Outside the Student Center near the Bookstore Entrance @ 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.)
The Warriors Giving Back Blood Drive will be an opportunity for campus community members to donate blood. Individuals are encouraged to show up and support the many people who are in need of blood, especially as the nation combats a national shortage of available blood.
Tuesday, February 22nd: Warrior Wisdom (Valley Conference Room @ 12pm – 1:30pm)

Warrior Wisdom is centered around alumni of Stanislaus State who have left their legacy at Stanislaus State and who have gone on to do amazing things in their post-graduate careers. Alumni and current students have the chance to network with one another while being treated to free food and other refreshments.

Wednesday, February 23: Shields Up (Quad @ 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.)

This event will correspond with Warrior Wednesday and will give students the chance to get involved and participate in fun activities and win prizes. Come hang out with your friends in the quad.

Thursday, February 24: Alumni Luncheon (Event Center @ 12 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.)

The Alumni Luncheon is an event for staff and faculty that are Stanislaus State alumni. This event will serve as an opportunity for staff and faculty to come together and celebrate homecoming week.

Thursday, February 24: Stan State vs. Cal State East Bay (Fitzpatrick Arena, Women’s Game @ 5:30 p.m. and Men’s Game @ 7:30 p.m.)

By Thursday, homecoming week is almost over, but not without the big games. Come out and cheer on Stan State basketball teams on Thursday night at Fitzpatrick Arena.

Friday, February 25: Homecoming Royalty Reveal (Warrior Lawn in Front of Student Center @ 12 p.m. – 1 p.m.)

All of the activities this week will lead to the crowning of this year’s homecoming royalty. During the event, homecoming nominees will find out if they have been selected to be Homecoming Royalty. The Stan State campus community can come out and support all nominees while also grabing a bite to eat.

Haley DeGraff (senior, Business Administration) is Alpha Xi Delta’s nominee. She is thrilled to be part of Homecoming this year.

“I am excited to be able to see students and interact with them to show them what Warrior Pride is since many of them haven’t had the chance to see it in person,” DeGraff said.

DeGraff, Morataya and Morales are all very happy to be part of homecoming week and are looking forward to representing their organizations throughout all the scheduled events.
