Welcome back Warriors! This semester feels like it is going to be more than just a lame party or two crammed in an apartment with 50 people fighting over warm beer and acting like they are drunk. There is nothing wrong with that, but it feels like it will be so much more, such as a barnyard rave or a “Project X” style party…maybe. These next few months will really set the pace for what is to come for you as a student, whether you realize it or not. So go out there and experience what this school and area has to offer.
This is my third year here and the amount of activities for students to participate in seem to be greatly increasing. This school is finally taking on that college aura that we all know and long for. Sign-up for intramural sports, school clubs and other student activities. If you are more of a trailblazer, feel free to start your own club, on or off campus.
Like the beach? What about the snow? If you plan correctly, you could shred fresh pow pow in the morning and watch the sunset and stars come up in the bay.
Feel like the parties aren’t satisfying your urges to fist pump? Take a short drive to Chico or Sacramento to see how other party seekers do it.
People seem to think that this area has nothing to offer. I would say they are completely wrong. This school allows you to make of it what you want. If people can’t find something to do, they are clearly not looking. First, check Facebook. You would be surprised how many event invitations you can get for local shows and performances. Second, check with the school. They have events on and off-campus like camping, hiking or even kayaking for a fraction of the cost.
You will find that this is the year to really go out and do what you want. Don’t be shy, make new friends and this year, explore! If you follow half of what I say, you might find several events happening the same day. Which will you go to?
