Friendship is an important part of life for everyone. Having people to talk about anything with is a blessing that not many people have. I wanted to take some time to thank the people that made my Stan State experience a memorable one, but I also wanted to give a platform for people to thank their friends as well.
Songs like Zindabad Yaarian , Yaar Mod Do , Yaar Khade Ne, Hostel, Yaar Anmulle, and Yaaran Da Group and movies like Yaar Anmulle, Burrraahh and Rocky Mental, have a common theme: the ups and downs of friendships.
To many, Stan State has been a place for them to build and strengthen their friendships.
Nikki Kaur (alumni, Chemistry) says her friends are basically family now.
“I became friends with these lovely ladies in general chemistry and remained friends throughout undergrad year. They are basically like now,” Kaur said.

For Sukie Johal (senior, Kinesiology) the friendship that was made to last was formed in anatomy.
“I met these girls during anatomy back in 2015. Little did we know that we would impact each other’s lives so much. Cheers to many more years,” Johal said.

Japjit Kaur (senior, Computer Science) found comfort in her friends after moving away from her home in India.
“I live miles away from home. Being an international student there are times when I miss my family, but these friends make it easier. They are my family here. They are here for me during my good and bad days. They are a very important part of my life,” Kaur said.

Karandeep Sooch (junior, Biology) shows that friendship can be founded through differences.
“Our differences brought us together. She’s the type of friend you meet maybe once in your lifetime and never forget,” Sooch said. “She is irreplaceable.”

Simarjit Kaur (junior, Computer Science) has friends that bring her happiness.
“No matter what, these girls always make me smile,” Kaur said.

As for me, there are a lot of people that made my Stan State experience memorable.
There are three people that were helpful and just fun to work with. I am really thankful for Clara Zapien, Jesús Alvarado and Gagandeep Kaur.
Clara, always made work more fun with the comments she had and she was the one who always checked this column before it was ready to be published.
Jesús, was my go to person for any work related questions I had and he always made sure that I got my questions answered even if he did not know the answer off the top of his head.
Gagan is simply the best friend anyone could have asked for.
Overall, I am so thankful that in their paths crossed mine. Thank you for everything!

Remember that people cross our paths for a reason and we can be the one to decide how much they will mean to us.
Here’s to all the friendships that Stan State has created and to those that have yet to begin!
