As students we need to be more courteous when it comes to our parking habits.
The root of parking problems may stem from the school, but it is our job to prune the proverbial overgrowth.
Look, I understand that the school needed to squeeze a lot of parking spaces in a small area, but it is extremely annoying to worry about constant door dings.
We pay a pretty penny for our cars and what seems like an arm and a leg for the parking permit. My question to the school is, “Why can’t we get what we pay for?”
However, there is a few problems that need to be addressed to my peers. There are so many students that just park like a**holes.
Bros and bro-ettes, stop taking up two spots in your lifted trucks. If you want to take two spaces, then buy two parking passes.
Hey small car drivers, don’t think that you are the only rule followers, because in reality your large group is the most dominant! I know you have small cars, but that doesn’t mean you should try to squeeze in the tiniest space between two cars making it impossible for anyone to get out. That point applies to you parallel parking, off campus drivers as well.
This one goes out to all parkers, regardless of car size. Do NOT park to the far right of the parking space just so YOU can get out of the driver’s door easier.
Even though you might be avoiding giving someone a door ding, you will certainly be asking for one.
As interesting of a parking technique it may seem to you, it throws off the whole parking ebb and flow because it forces everyone (even good parkers), to follow in the tracks of your stupidity. There are two lines that you have to park evenly between, please take your time and do it correctly.
“I need to park fast because I am late for class,” said every student on any Monday morning. My response to that is, “Hey, you’re going to be late anyway, so just take your time.” Calm down and take the extra ten seconds to reverse and straighten out, it will avoid further stress.
Finally, I’m going to leave you with a little campus secret, so make sure nobody around you is looking at your paper.
Park in the spaces farthest from school. I know, gasp, but the extra minute it takes walking a few more feet is worth it in the long run.
Your car will probably be all by itself for most of the day and safe from the war zone of inconsiderate students that don’t mind giving door dings.
