From self expression, bold fashion statements, and just celebrating pride in general, San Francisco’s 50th annual Pride celebration was definitely a fun-filled hate free zone. Each year, people from all over come together to unite with like-minded individuals who all believe one thing: That Love is Love. 
Millions of people gathered in the downtown area of San Francisco to celebrate their true authentic selves. The music was flowing, there were people dancing everywhere, and not a hater in sight. 

What made this event even more special was how it not only brought together the local community, but also other people outside of the San Francisco region. This was truly an event for everyone as there were children, elderly and even dogs in attendance. 

This year’s pride celebration garnered support from large companies such as Sephora, Xfinity, and BART (Bay area rapid transit). The loving and supportive environment of this celebration has motivated others to come out as well. On the last day of Pride month, “Old Town Road” singer Lil Nas X came out as gay. 

Although pride is typically celebrated in the month of June, the LGBTQ community still deals with the struggles that take place as a result of being a part of this community every day. The biggest takeaway from this year’s pride festival is to stop hating because Love is Love.

If you could not make it to this year’s San Francisco Pride celebration, there are still opportunities to celebrate. Modesto Pride will take place in September and Stockton Pride will happen in August.
