A new app designed for our campus community, named CSU Stanislaus Mobile, is now available for both Android and iOS compatible smartphones.
This app will provide an alternative way for students to browse information relating to CSU Stanislaus without having to go through the full website on their smartphone or tablet. Although some of the links lead to the full website, other sections of the app lead to areas specially designed for touchscreen use.
“We hope the new CSU Stanislaus mobile app will be of benefit to all members of the university: students, faculty and staff,” said Carl Whitman, associate vice president for information technology.
“It provides information about university news and events, Warrior athletics, easy access to our online library information and other campus resources.”
In terms of other campus resources, students who are in danger can use the emergency function to push for help.
Using the directory, students can search for different faculty and staff members.
Finally, there is a map of the campus, a link to the Blackboard mobile app, and photos of various campus buildings.
As for any problems with the software, Whitman explained there might be some minor issues.
“There is only one known problem reported to date – on an Android device, building floor plans are not displayed as part of the campus map application (this function does work correctly on Apple iPhones),” Whitman said.
“We expect to implement a fix for this problem in the next version.”
Future enhancements are planned.
“We know that students would like mobile access to class scheduling information, for example, and we expect to provide access to that and more. We’d also like to take advantage of location-based services – displaying information that is tailored to where a person is on the campus.”
The free CSU Stanislaus mobile app can be found in both the Google Play and Apple App stores by searching for “CSU Stanislaus.”
