The California State University, Stanislaus website, www.csustan.edu, is projected to relaunch March 24.
Dave Tonelli, Associate Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs, spearheaded the redesign of the new website over the last nine months and explained the motivation to relaunch the website.
“It’s the front door to the campus and the front door to the brand of the university, and we look very dated in our web presence right now,” Tonelli said. “We’re moving to a more contemporary presentation and also one that visually conveys the beauty of the campus.”
The current website is organized around business and academic units.
“If you don’t know how it’s organized, it’s a little more difficult for you to find information,” Tonelli said.
The new site will employ audience-based navigation. In order to present site visitors with the most relevant information, users will be able to select if they are alumni, community members, faculty members or students.
The new website will be able to recognize what type of device a visitor is accessing the site from and configure to fit the screen in order to provide the best presentation of every page.
In addition to new features, the new website will reveal a new streamlined, minimalist design.
A beta version of the new website is expected to open to the campus the first week of March – three weeks before the official relaunch of the site.
Tonelli explained there will be an overall period of review for the new campus website; however, the switch from the current site to the new site should be virtually seamless to the user.
Users who encounter difficulty with the new website can share their experience or thoughts of the website via the feedback tab present on each page.
“We’re really excited about it because after people get through the fact that it’s new, they’re really going to react that this is very cool,” Tonelli said.
“The campus is presented in a way that makes us look very contemporary and shows the beauty of the campus. Our site is infinitely more usable than it was.”
