Located at 819 W. Roseburg Ave. in Modesto, Laughing Crow Collectibles is home to a wide range of physical media and collectibles.
Laughing Crow Collectibles specializes in selling video games and consoles of all types, specifically retro games, as their age and scarcity create a market rarely served by major retailers.
Jerod Pimentel (Owner) said his former side hustle as a video game reseller motivated him to create a wholesale business.
“I had been selling video games and toys as a side business to my regular 9-to-5 for the last 10 years,” Pimentel said. “Now that my kids are older, I thought it’d be good to open a store that I had wished already previously existed in the first place.”

Pimentel also shared how he discovered the location while searching for a place to settle.
“When I stumbled across this location in Modesto, I saw that it was available for lease. I was like, ‘You know what? This is a great spot,’ I think I was at a point in my life where I could jump to a physical location and ended up doing it, and made it into Laughing Crow,” he said.
Since opening in April 2024, he has strived to go beyond the marketing of gaming.
“We offer video games ranging from Atari to modern Pokémon cards and a wide array of vintage toys. We also have the biggest selection dedicated to anime, movies and TV shows of anywhere in Norcal as well,” he said.
Christian Apodaca (Sophomore, Finance) said the store is convenient for finding games that allow him to relive his childhood.
“I was given an original Xbox console passed down from an uncle, but he did not have the games. Going to Laughing Crow allowed me to find a copy of the first edition of Halo, and I got to play the same day instead of ordering it online and waiting. Seeing all the things available really brought out the kid in me, and I will for sure go when I’m in the area and tell friends about it,” Apodaca said.
Geysha Esparza Mendoza (Freshman, Finance) said the store has led to her family reviving a tradition.
“Moving here to our current house, we lost a lot of our old things in storage, and because of Laughing Crow, our family was able to rebuy Wii games we used to have, and now we play Wii Sports and Mario Bros like the old times to unwind as a family after a long day,” Mendoza said.
