If you need a place to go for Indian attire that is super close to school, look no further than a five minute drive. Paul’s fashion is your one-stop where you will be able to shop for all of your Indian clothing, jewelry and shoes.
Store owner, Karamjit Singh, went around the store and explained the clothing artifacts, its prices and why the rationale behind the artifacts’ prices.
“Compared to the stores on Lander, our prices are quite cheap,” Singh said.
Due to the lack of customers they have had to relocate. They were first located by the 99 cent store at 229 W Canal Dr in Turlock.
“The location was hidden. We stayed their for a year. It was a hard time for us. We hardly got any customers. We even put in ads for that spot,” Singh explained.
Co-Owner of the store, Rita Rani, explained why she believes it is important to keep the prices low.
“We are a new business. The only way we are going to thrive is by keeping our prices lower than that of our competition,” Rani said.
However, the store seems to only cater to women.
“Boys and men here tend not to wear traditional Indian clothing. They will just wear a t-shirt with jeans, or they will wear their kurta with jeans,” Rani explained. “They just don’t like to wear traditional clothes.”
Both the owner and co-owner do not have Paul in their name and we came to find out that Paul is the caste to which they belong, so they named their store after their caste.
The store offers a variety of jewelry, since it is more dedicated to women.
“We have a polki jewellery, kundan. We have a variety which basically is artificial jewelry,” she said.
Paul’s Fashion is now located at 1560 Geer Rd. suite j, Turlock, CA 95380.
If you are in a hurry and looking for a cheap place to get your eyebrows done, then this is the stop for you as well. Paul’s fashion offers eyebrow threading for just $5.
“Full face is $15 and upper lips is $3,” Rani added.
