This past weekend, global girl group Katseye turned the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium upside down, selling out two back-to-back nights for their “Beautiful Chaos” tour. Only one year into their career.

Katseye debuted on June 28th of last year with their single “Debut”, quickly followed by the viral sensation “Touch”. Their first EP, SIS (Soft Is Strong), arrived that August and just months later, they dropped “Beautiful Chaos,” home to fan favorites “Gnarly” and “Gabriela.”

The six-member group, consisting of Sophia (Filipina, leader), Manon (Swiss-Italian-Ghanaian, visual), Daniela (Venezuelan-Cuban, main dancer), Megan (Chinese-Singaporean-American, all-rounder), Lara (Indian, main vocalist) and Yoonchae (Korean, sub-vocalist), has been rising fast. So fast that their very first tour sold out all 16 shows across 13 cities.

From the moment the lights went down, Katseye had EYEKONS (the fandom name) screaming and cheering with high energy. They opened the show with “Debut,” instantly turning the auditorium into a party.

The party only escalated with “Gameboy”, a performance that doubled as an inside joke within the fandom. The crowd embraced the ongoing joke that the chorus sounds like “gayboy” screaming “You’re just a gayboy, I ain’t tryna play, boy,” proudly and loudly.

Around the halfway mark, the group performed their brand new, unreleased song “Internet Girl.” With fans already knowing the lyrics and choreography. Leaving the members shocked but also impressed with how dedicated their EYEKONS are.

Between songs, Katseye took the time to chat and interact with the crowd, even dancing to Kelis’ “Milkshake”, a callback to the group’s viral GAP commercial.

If there was one point where the building’s structural integrity felt at risk, it was during “Gnarly”. The audience volume went from “concert loud” to “volcanic eruption.” Every lyric was shouted like the fan’s life depended on it. Katseye matched the energy with an amazing dance break and live vocals as they spent the whole show singing and dancing at the same time.

Their show on December 6th was a special show for not only the group but fans who got to celebrate member Yoonchae’s 18th birthday. The members brought out a cake, the crowd sang along and suddenly the group reminisced on the memories they have had with her, meeting her when she was only 15.

To close the night, the group performed “My Way”, a reflective ballad about self-growth and choosing your own path, an unexpectedly calm and grounded ending to a high energy show. Phones were up, voices were soft and the crowd seemed to know they’d witnessed something special.

Katseye’s San Francisco stop was everything fans hoped for: powerful vocals, relentless energy, personality, humor and the kind of stage presence that shows the group is ready for bigger stages.

If the “Beautiful Chaos” tour proved anything, it’s that Katseye isn’t just arriving on the scene but they’re taking over and their loyal fanbase EYEKONS are more than happy to scream along for the ride.
